https://kyteman.com Colin Benders alias Kyteman: Donning the Kyte Kyteman started out kind of as a joke. Made up the name on a camping trip with my parents. It was a cool camp site. They wanted to leave, I disapproved. So I tied a kite to my back. Became Kyteman, the epic superhero that would save us from ever having to leave that place. Anyway, I’ve used the name ever since. At least for the music that I was making on my own. As time went on, people got to know me simply as ‘Kyte’, so when I released The Hermit Sessions that name was a given. When I play or write for others, I go by Colin Benders. But Kyteman… that will always be saved for projects where I have the full creative freedom to take any risk I want. And as the name grows, the experiments grow along with it. My interest in music has been there for as long as I can remember. One of my first and clearest memories was at a party with my family. I was 3, may be 4 years old. My uncle had brought a trumpet with him and I was completely fascinated by it. I couldn’t even hold it, never mind playing it. But as soon as I was physically able, I started taking lessons. My love for the instrument grew into a more universal love for music. I decided to do everything within my powers to help out in the process of developing music for me and for others to enjoy. Be it by making it or by enabling it.
a bunch of people who have read between the lines for a while and are looking to the stars now. bunch of people who have been trained and worked in classical and classical contemporary music and are getting more excited each day by what's going on in contemporary pop/folk/electronica and uncategorizable genres in and around those confines. they have decided not to wait for the institutions to come round and recognize this but are just "go" and starting to use their network and knowledge, tastes and abillities to facilitate performances of existing projects in these realms of extended instrumental line-ups with bands and their artists/composers as well as foster and workshop new collaborations. We have worked on such projects in places like London, Manchester, Paris, Amsterdam, New York and Sydney but haven't yet found such endevours easy to come by in Germany and Berlin in particular. Yes, you don't believe it, but that's right. We are Berliners, we have gone away and come back and we love the city and want to change that but we don't even have an airport, man, you know what I mean? So there's going to be a new scene and and open-plan-kitchen, inviting international artists to become involved and we'll give them space and maybe ideas and thrive on their ideas. we have already found many kind and idealistic people who totally get it and will support us (you know who you are out there!) and that's giving us the energy to come forward. thank you. yes we stargaze. in Berlin, Cologne, London, Amsterdam, Sydney and wherever people love to listen. It's a journey, take the train!
Mook (Music Of Our Kind) is an ensemble made up of eight UK-based performers representing an intriguing mix of musical cultures Mook consists of an Ethiopian singer of Coptic background; an overtone singer of Middle-Eastern and Asian fusion; a Dutch oboist; an English violinist; a Spanish violist; a Sicilian jazz guitarist; an English jazz double bassist and a contemporary Danish percussionist. Mook is playing original compositions exploring an equilibrium of musical elements: highly controlled free improvisation and classical European trained musicians; classical orthodox Ethiopian chant tradition and Hindustani rhythms.
