I conducted qualitative interviews for CC-DR's PEEK Studies. These studies examined patient experience, expectations and knowledge across a range of diseases, including chronic heart failure, lung cancer, mitochondrial disease and tuberous sclerosis.
I coordinated the qualitative interviews for the ICC-DR's PEEK Studies. These studies examine patient experience, expectations and knowledge across a range of diseases, including mitochondrial disease, bladder cancer, and tuberous sclerosis. As Program Manager, was responsible for promotion of the PEEK studies, liaising with participants to schedule telephone interviews, and managing team of Researchers to ensure timely completion of the qualitative component of each study.
My PhD research examined the relationship between the characteristics and experiences of those caring for a family member or friend dying of cancer and caregivers' experience of stress, wellbeing and reward. However, I withdrew from my PhD so I could focus on caring for my elderly mother. I felt guilty about not finishing my PhD until my cousin (a retired academic) said that what I had actually done was prioritise my own health and my mother's wellbeing over the health and wellbeing of others. Perspective is a wonderful thing!
