I operate at the intersection of digital transformation, data ecosystems, and European‑level innovation, combining over a decade of applied research with cross‑sector collaboration. My focus is on translating research‑driven digital architectures into scalable, interoperable solutions for public‑sector, critical‑infrastructure, and built‑environment contexts — bridging engineering, IT, and policy requirements. At Fraunhofer IBP, I contribute to the institute’s digital innovation strategy through the development and coordination of the research field “Data Ecosystems”. My work spans semantic frameworks for regulatory compliance, digital twins, federated data architectures, and sustainable construction. I collaborate with ministries, public authorities, industry partners and standardisation bodies, and represent the institute within the Fraunhofer EU Network. Alongside my Fraunhofer work, I contributed to acatech – the German Academy of Science and Engineering – advising on Gaia‑X, data governance, and cloud architectures within a European policy and innovation context. My background spans architecture, energy and environmental systems, cultural heritage, the Semantic Web, AI, data ecosystems, and IT/IP law. This interdisciplinary foundation enables me to work effectively across technical and organisational domains and to contribute to European‑level initiatives such as Gaia‑X, EU standardisation (DIN, CEN/CENELEC), and cross‑domain projects involving aeronautics and space, particularly in the context of secure and interoperable digital infrastructures.

Leading project and business development for the strategic research field "Data Ecosystems", and managing the engineering of innovative, AI-based digital solutions and services for Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations (AECO), built heritage and critical infrastructures. Key responsibilities & representative projects: • Federated and interoperable digital ecosystem for the construction sector Construct-X (2025-28): National initiative advancing open digital ecosystems and modular construction through digital twins. • Automating building compliance and permitting Horizon Europe ACCORD (2022-25): Led the workpackage 'Solution Development' and the tasks ‚Semantic Framework & User Requirements Elicitation‘, 'Technical Guidelines' and 'the German Demonstrator', including use cases in land use permitting, environmental compliance and architectural design compliance of timber construction systems • Public sector BIM implementation BIM for Federal Building Construction (2022-25): Led the development of an object catalog for federal authorities, based on DIN EN standards. BIM4FHG (2017-20) - Designed BIM processes, technical solutions, and contractual frameworks for Fraunhofer as a public building owner. • Digital infrastructure modernisation EXA-Bau (INex-ÜBA, 2025-28): Sub-project manager representing Fraunhofer Construction Alliance, leading digital transformation of vocational training infrastructure within a national modernization initiative. • Advisory roles Advising public authorities and software companies on digital engineering, data ecosystems and IT legislation and regulations.

Supported BIM-based projects with national and international industry partners, focusing on regulatory compliance, heritage conservation, and modular construction. Representative projects: • Building with Vision ("Bauen mit Weitblick"): Modular System for Industrialized Social Housing" (2016–19) - Developed BIM-based compliance checks for prefabricated social housing modules. • EU-FP7 EFFESUS: Energy Efficiency for EU Historic Districts’ Sustainability (2012-16) - Building survey focused on historic typologies, construction methods, and energy efficiency strategies for heritage districts. • Pompeii Sustainable Preservation Project (2012 - ongoing) - Supported preventive conservation and documentation efforts in the Porta Nocera necropolis, Italy, focusing on sustainable preservation strategies for archaeological heritage.
