Engineering Design Lab (ENGR 101, 102, and 103) - introductory engineering courses, primarily for freshman and transfer students. Lab exercises focus on various engineering disciplines to expose students to all fields of engineering. The engineering design process is taught through the construction of a section-wide Rube Goldberg machine, allowing for small and large group-related work. Several aspects of engineering are touched upon throughout the year, including project management, team dynamics, design documentation, and computer aided software. As a teaching fellow, it is my responsibility to aid the students in developing elaborate, complex and innovative designs that push the limits of their creativity. Weekly mini-lectures are given before the start of each lab. Continuous feedback during the lab section, to allow the students to be as productive as possible during class is also a top priority as a fellow. Weekly sign-off sheets of specific tasks must be met before the students move forward in their projects.
