Politics graduate (BA hons) with Advanced Certificate in Marketing (CIM) and Intensive Coaching Skills (ILM) and over 25 years professional experience leading teams and managing projects at organisations including Virgin Money (customer service manager), Sky TV (staff training and business development), Greenpeace (fundraising manager), Friends of the Earth, German Red Cross and Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). Currently the director of accommodation (Unterkunftsleitung) at a community home for 360 refugees in Berlin. Leading a multi-functional team of caretaker, security, cleaners, social workers, administration, volunteer coordinator, child-care and translators, I am responsible for the well-being, safety and security of all residents from 0-90 years old. Encouraging more cycling in Berlin, Germany and the world, especially among newcomers to Europe. 1 Million people arrived in Germany in 2015, often coming from cultures where cycling is not cool and/or very dangerous. On arriving in Berlin it is easy to see that cycling is a fun, cheap, practical way to get about and a win-win for everyone, if we get as many people as possible up on two wheels.
