As the Coordinator of Clinical Field Experiences, I work to find quality placements for our CMU Teacher Candidates in Michigan K-12 schools. Networking with local schools to place students with highly qualified teachers to gain experience in the classroom, before their 16 week Student Teaching experience. Presenter at Student Teaching Application Meetings. Liaison in CMU's Partnership with Gateway Elementary in St. Johns, Michigan where we are placing Pre-Student Teachers for their field experiences with highly qualified teachers for a 10 week placement. This partnership is also focused on STEM and working with Agro-Culture Liquid Fertilizers, each classroom has been paired with a local farmer in St. Johns. Promotion of Global Field Experiences for Pre-Student Teachers and Student Teachers in Oaxaxa, Mexico, Dublin, Ireland, Canberra, Australia, and Immokalee, Florida. Coordinating and assisting CMU professors in the application process for students and planning of the experience.
*Fostered a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning community for twenty-three fifth grade students in a teaming 6th grade classroom. *Differentiated instruction to meet learners’ needs and followed the Response to Intervention model. *Gauged student learning through daily formative and informative assessment and collected and analyzed student data to further guide my instruction. *Engaged students in a daily 90-minute reading workshop block using The Café, Daily 5, conferencing, book clubs, teacher read alouds, and strategy groups. *Co-taught with my 6th grade teaching partner- Lucy Calkins’ Writers Workshop Units of Study where students became independent, motivated writers. *Taught Science to two sixth-grade classrooms using hands-on, interactive labs, leveled science readers with a focus on informational reading strategies and fluency. *Trained in Thinking Maps, Marzano Vocabulary, Signapore Math in Focus, and MI Model. *Team taught on a team of three, and taught three sections of Writing and one section of writing using MAISA Units and a workshop format. *Integrated technology, including Google Classroom and Apps on a daily basis. *Taught Summer School and After School Homework Lab.
*Fostered a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning community for twenty-three fifth grade students in a self-contained 5th grade classroom. *Taught Science, Writing, and Grammar to two fifth grade classrooms. *Implemented Lucy Calkins Writers Workshop, 6 +1 Writing Traits, Literature Circles, and Accelerated Reader to equip students to become successful motivated writers and readers. *Utilized differentiated instruction, multiple intelligences, Kagan (Cooperative Learning), and *Response to Intervention to meet the diverse needs of young adolescents. *Integrated curriculum, in all subject areas, in order for students to see the relevance to their own lives by using reflective meaningful assessment. *Initiated open communication with parents through weekly classroom newsletters, emails, phone calls, and invited parents into the class. *Chaperoned 5th and 6th grade students at Spring Hill Camp beginning of the school year to build school community. *Maintained strong classroom management procedures through Class Rights, Homeworkopoly, and Deal or No Deal. *Attended workshops and conferences, collaborated with partner teacher, and read educational literature.
