At the Claremont Makerspace, I spearheaded the design of the jewelry studio from the ground up as the organization was opening its doors, and I was responsible for management of the studio upon organization opening. As the studio shop lead, I was in charge of managing studio members, creating and implementing member certification, and studio upkeep, and I took extra initiative to create and schedule classes and grow the community within the jewelry studio. I also taught several classes, created structured curriculum for each, and sourced teachers from the larger community to diversify our studio offerings. I built a really positive and welcoming report within the studio community and mentored new metalsmiths from their first time holding a torch to building the confidence to pursue their own projects. Additionally I worked cross-departmentally within the organization, building lasting relationships and assisting with member projects and goals that spanned across various disciplines and studios within the larger Makerspace. Impact: -Increased Makerspace visibility and membership by 10% via my popular and accessible beginner metal smithing classes that I designed. -Helped build lasting and mutually supportive and beneficial relationships across departments and studios within the makerspace, assisting with member events and supporting member projects in various studios and disciplines. -Set a strong foundation for a sustained legacy within the jewelry studio, equipping it with the necessary tools, building relationships and returning members, and connecting with outside stakeholders such as local jewelry stores and fellow art non-profits who benefitted from the expansion of a jewelry studio at the Claremont Makerspace.
Worked alongside the Craftstudies Program Director to ensure smooth running of the organization, including but not limited to: managing the enrollment system, assisting with class scheduling and course development, large-scale email marketing, website development and upkeep, acting as a liaison between the director and prospective students/customers, budget tracking, building lasting customer relationships, and general office administrative tasks. Taught and created curriculum for a week-long kid's metalsmithing camp.
Wrote regular interest pieces on local community happenings and people. My largest project was creating a full 5 page spread article about 5 local artists, and organized and implemented a local art show showcasing their work as a companion event. The event was very well attended and created an opportunity for community building, networking, and sales of artwork.
