Access to a free financial wellness advisor in school is crucial for students to cultivate healthy financial habits that can set them up for a secure future. In the position, I get the honor to work with students one-on-one to assess their financial situation and give them guidance with money management skills, spending plans, and fostering responsible financial decision-making which not only benefits their own financial well-being, but also contributes to the economic stability of the people around them. The Center for Financial Wellness hosts Dollars for Scholars program for 50+ students to meet with a peer and discuss campus recourses and healthy financial habits. Additionally, we host virtual and in-person workshops for students to attend to learn more about financial wellness topics like credit and savings, budgeting, and more.
Research topic: PADOs AI Integration Project Professor: Bertozzi, Stefano M. Lab manager: Jorge Antonio Morales Alfaro Access to quality healthcare remains a pressing issue in Mexico, where public health services are underfunded and overburdened. In response, many low-income communities have turned to Pharmacy-Adjacent Doctor Offices (PADOs)—small medical offices attached to pharmacies—as an alternative for primary care. However, research on the quality, equity, and long-term health impact of these private services remains scarce. As a Research Assistant at UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health, I am leveraging AI and data science to bridge this gap. My work involves developing AI models that automate key insights extraction and trend identification from healthcare-related research, helping to assess the accessibility and effectiveness of PADOs. Additionally, I am building and refining data pipelines and utilizing Google Places APIs to systematically collect, integrate, and validate PADO data from multiple sources, ensuring its accuracy and usability for public health analysis.
