My responsibilities include strategy, negotiations, operational efficiencies, finance and legal.
Manage strategies and policy for the VP of Transmission and Distribution Group – the largest division within BC Hydro with approximately 3500 employees. Lead the Canadian Directors and Members for the Western Electricity Coordinating Council in North America. This involved ensuring the Canadian electricity entities’ interests and participation are addressed as part of the North American electricity grid reliability.
Responsible for the development and operation of a commercial subsidiary of BC Hydro that specializes in international engineering testing, consulting, and research and development for the electrical and automotive industry.
Led large teams across the organization in negotiations or projects with multi-parties that impacted a number of complex existing operating agreements as well as new agreements for purchases of energy. Reviewed financial reports, board materials and large capital projects business cases to report to the President and CEO. Coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Mines staff on key issues related to BC Hydro. Assisted the President and CEO on strategic board sessions and all budgetary and rates discussions.
