•Collaborating with the Havran Lab, whose interest lies with interactions between intraepithelial δ T cells and their neighboring epithelial cells in thymus, skin, and intestine. •Conducting project investigating the CAR/JAML interaction and specific mechanisms in human epithelial T cells; and how their expression contributes to acute and chronic wound healing.
• Conducted a project whose goal was to construct a vector that could perform the newfound CRISPR technology in a more consistent and budget-efficient fashion. • Performed various molecular techniques such as gel electrophoresis, PCR, miniPrep and maxiPrep, and survey assays.
•Project Manager: Development of questionnaire and protocol to standardize the rankings of aesthetics and sensory perceptions of topically applied formulations. Completed literature review of aesthetic panels currently used in the cosmetic industry and analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of the panels to standardize ranking methods. Conducted research questionnaire to observe how different variables may affect sensory perception and aesthetic rankings. Analyzed how these rankings may influence product development of topically applied pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. •Project: Investigation of customization of skincare and cosmetic as a growing trend in the industry and market. Conducted market research in successful cosmetics companies that are aimed at the customization of cosmetics. Identified and discussed the practicalities of developing technologies that can enable consumers to customize skincare and cosmetics.
• Studied the efficacy and action mechanism of a combination drug and transplant treatment targeting multiple sclerosis using murine models. • Performed various assays (qPCR, western blot, FACS) and techniques (IV, IP, SQ injections; bone marrow transplant) to demonstrate drug’s ability to induce immune tolerance. • Project: Induction of Mixed Chimerism for Cure of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis (EAE) , presented at the 2014 Eugene and Ruth Roberts Summer Academy Poster Session
•Integrating the use of hematopoietic stem cells into project, worked on developing a viable conditioning regimen to treat multiple sclerosis and build immune tolerance. •One of the major contributors in the CIRM Video Project “Let it Grow”; awarded the CIRM Creativity Award and featured on ABC News and NBC News. •Project: Induction of Mixed Chimerism for Cure of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis (EAE), presented at the 2014 CIRM Creativity Day conference in San Francisco, CA.
