19 Years of experience in wireless telecommunications with experience including KPI monitoring for CDMA, EVDO, UMTS, and LTE, RF deployment optimization of CDMA, EVDO, UMTS, and LTE, and cell site hardware troubleshooting for CDMA, EVDO and Analog. Ability to work across functional and global boundaries. Quick learner, adapting well to internal and external changing priorities.
Focus on iDirect and Newtec satellite communications to support telecommunication infrastructure in rural Alaska • Support statewide satellite networks and new deployments to ensure good quality of experience in rural Alaska. • Major projects included swapping out of 200 C-band iDirect modems and building a new Ku-band hub and swap out of 150 modems. • Participated in the Iditarod Trail sled dog race for three years which includes field testing all equipment in advance of the race, setting up mobile antenna systems in various locations, troubleshooting any issues during the race, and working with the customer to troubleshoot throughput issues. • Operations support for Rural technicians to include training in iDirect testing and optimization of iDirect remotes for turnups, troubleshooting and antenna peaking • Tier IV iDirect support for fellow RF engineers and operations. • Provide iDirect hub support during new buildouts and expansion of current networks • Build new iDirect networks to include building the satellite transponder, TX and RX line cards, inroute groups, QoS and individual modems. • Circuit documentation in Metasolv to include training other engineers on how to build and document circuits. • Created documentation for iDirect and Newtec processes and shared with other engineers and technicians. • Work with new RF engineers to familiarize them with GCI processes and procedures. Train new RF and SMC engineers on the iDirect software we use and the satellite hardware used. This includes building the modems in iDirect and programing the modems, basic troubleshooting in iDirect, and introducing them to ECM as well as helping them get all the software needed installed. • Work with Intelsat on Newtec modem and component stability testing to include a new mount and new type of LNB. • Currently working to document processes/procedures/software needed for new engineers. • Attended iDirect iOM and Advanced iOM training Summer 2021, Newtec training Fall 2022
Wireless performance engineer. Preparing LTE KPI reports for national HQ team for customer and triaging weekly to provide data on the current network issues and trends.
RF optimization of CDMA, EVDO and LTE networks. Manage drive teams and engineers in the market. This includes training the drive teams, scheduling drive test activities, post processing data, making changes to the network as necessary and creating optimization reports and presenting them to the customer. Also worked with the PM team to schedule activities and address any issues with cell sites.
Worked from the bid process through the optimization process for all CDMA and EVDO projects in North America. This included working with internal teams to get the bids to customers, working with subcontractors to get the bids from them, and overseeing the projects to make sure that the work was done on time and within budget. Projects included CDMA and EVDO optimization, re-tunes and drive testing. Concurrently worked with the CDMA/EVDO FOA team on trials for new features, including 1X Advanced and 9-12 carrier EVDO.
I worked with the local Alcatel-Lucent team and the customer to optimize their CDMA network to get the best possible coverage out of the current sites (11 sites trying to cover an area 20 by 30 miles with a population of approximately 4 million). This is a private network. My work on this project resulted in additional equipment being purchased and additional technologies being added to the network.
Performance Monitoring for the Sprint PCS Affiliate Modernization Project. This project included KPI monitoring and troubleshooting for swapped sites, monitoring of EVDO upgrade sites and monitoring of sites after re-tunes and re-homes. This included preparing the step by step process document for engineers to follow, training the engineers, and working with the engineers and the project management team to address any issues with the sites.
Loaned to the CTA team to support both RF and Cell Engineering. I helped the customer solve problems that could not be solved at the local network level such and hard handoffs between MSCs.
Hired, trained, and managed engineers in 8 markets. Project included before and after drive testing of GSM and TDMA networks to ensure that the antenna work was correct and no harm was seen in the current network prior to adding UMTS.
Nationwide swapout project of minicells to modcells. RF portion included KPI monitoring and basic troubleshooting of swapped sites. I was assigned some of the more difficult markets due to my hardware background. Cell engineering portion included working with the PM team and the RF engineers to troubleshoot problem sites remotely using KPI's and ROP data
