Providing occupational therapy services as a part of a CARF accredited interdisciplinary team to provide therapy services for the pediatric (birth through 18 years old) and adult populations within the Medical Rehabilitation Program. In addition to providing occupational therapy services in our Medical Rehabilitation Program, I have the responsibility of developing and implementing the Beyond Transitions Program designed to build critical life skills needed for successful transition to high school and post high school life in a group setting.
• Provided occupational therapy services in the acute care hospital setting on all units of the hospital including orthopedics, medical surgical, stroke, oncology, cardiac/pulmonary, intensive care unit, intermediate care unit, post-anesthesia care unit, emergency department and special care nursery • Developed, established and currently implementing an occupational therapy program in the Special Care Nursery (Level II NICU) providing services primarily for premature infants and infants experiencing neonatal abstinence syndrome due to prenatal drug exposure. This program provides individualized developmental care plans, family education, feeding evaluation and interventions, sensory integration/development, massage, tone management and neurodevelopmental evaluations and interventions in order to ensure and promote healthy development. • Rehabilitation representative and committee member for the Pediatric Safety Committee and Special Care nursery Committee.
Provided client centered interventions focused on increasing or maintaining independence and participation in daily activities in order to allow individuals to live life to the fullest. Supervised certified occupational therapy assistants in executing the occupational therapy plan of care.
Work under the supervision of an Autism Specialist through the Kansas State Autism Waver. Work with children towards acquiring, retaining, improving, and generalizing the self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to successfully live life to the fullest in their home and community.
Primary experience on the traumatic brain injury unit with opportunities to observe and treat in other areas including pediatrics, spinal cord injury, cerebrovascular accident, home safety assessments, driving evaluations, and assistive technology.
