Katerina Maniou is an Athens-based vocal performer, postdoctoral researcher, and musicologist. She currently is a teaching fellow in the University of Ioannina (Department of Music Studies) and the University of Thessaly (Department of Culture, Creative Media and Industries). She successfully defended her PhD thesis under the title “Αspects of modernism and postmodernism in the work of Alfred Schnittke” in the Department of Music Studies of the University of Athens, funded by the State Scholarships Foundation. She holds piano, music theory degrees and opera singing diploma (first prize). As a practitioner, she has collaborated with Greek National Opera, Onassis Foundation, MedeaElectronique, Paris MSH, Alea III. She has participated in projects of multimedia artists, opera, dance and theater groups, and has interpreted work premieres of Greek composers in Greece and abroad (Eve Sussman, Joe Tornabene, Anna Tzakou, Natasha Avra etc.)She has published articles, participated in conferences, lectures, sound installations, experimental movies, and broadcasts in Greece and abroad on thematics deriving from her PhD and her current independent postdoctoral research: This is an art-based inquiry, titled (p)ReVoice, wherein ‘p’ is considered both as ‘pre’ and ‘post’. Trailing bonds between myth and technomythology, this project conceptualizes and develops a typology of ‘phonocentric bioethics’ in the posthuman turn, with theoretical, artistic, and pedagogical dimensions, keeping an eye of political reflections.
Idole & Interprétation : questionner l’avatarisation croisée du personnage et de la comédienne IDOLES est une performance intermédiale basée sur la confrontation utopique d’Hélène et de Cassandre. Nous vous invitons à venir rencontrer et consoler dans un espace utopique Hélène de Troie et Cassandre qui se confient en se métamorphosant en direct par la voix et l’image. Au-delà des questions de guerre, de féminité ou de migration, Hélène et Cassandre sont abordées au travers des époques : deux figures diachroniques qui sont les parties d’une même pièce ou d’un même miroir. Hélène est l’image d’une beauté inimaginable et Cassandre est la voix d’une vérité inimaginable. Leur interaction consiste en une rencontre utopique dans un espace inimaginable où la vérité et la beauté s’alignent et se libèrent. Cela crée des associations lâches entre les différentes parties de la féminité et invite à un partage sensible que le public pourra rejoindre et célébrer.
