Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology in the Department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Hull. I completed my BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science and MSc Applied Sport Physiology at the University of Brighton, before then moving to Leeds to undertake a PhD at Leeds Beckett University which focused on the psychobiological impact of heat stress in team sport. I am currently module leader on; L5 Social Psychology of Sport Health and Exercise, L6 Applied Sport Psychology and L6 Performance in Extreme Environments. I also supervise several dissertation students across a range of psychology and physiology related themes, as well as supporting with the supervision of MSc Clinical Exercise student projects, and am a supervisor on PhD projects currently focused on the impacts of, and preparation for heat stress in an ageing population. I have several research interests, broadly: 1. Central fatigue in team sport, and the implications for cognitive performance and decision-making. 2. The impact of extreme environments on physical and mental performance, in athletic and occupational settings and strategies for preparing for or alleviating heat stress. 3. Exploration of psychological and nutritional strategies for optimising physical and cognitive performance in team sport players during match-play. 4. Benefits of physical activity for cognitive performance. Outside of academia, I am Head of Women's Football and First Team Manager at Harrogate Town AFC (UEFA B), having not long hung up my playing boots after previously competing as a CM in the Southern and Northern Women's Premier League.
