Training placements in the following settings: 1) Adult Mental Health Placement (1 year) / Community Mental Health Team in Tower Hamlets / Inpatient Ward at the Mile End Hospital / Community Programme for those with long-standing psychosis • Integrating approaches of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), third wave CBT and mentalization-based therapy to support clients presenting with long-standing high levels of emotional distress 2) Adult Physical Health Placement (6 months) / Adult Psychological Support Service at Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (Inpatient and Outpatient) • Utilising Solution Focused Therapy and third wave CBT approaches when offering short-term 1:1 telephone and face-to-face talking therapy 3) Child Neurodevelopmental Placement (6 months) / Cheyne Child Developmental Service at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital • Supporting the assessment and diagnosis (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) processes for children/young people and their families. • Individual and group interventions (e.g., psycho-education, adjustment work) 4) Adult Neuropsychology Placement (1 year) / Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in Putney / Level 1 neuro-rehabilitation and Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness • Direct clinical work with patients to support the areas of cognition, mental capacity, behaviours as well as emotional and psychological functioning • Conducting a range of assessments and using formulations to inform psychological interventions • Working within the multidisciplinary team to facilitate assessment and neuro-rehabilitation processes • Keyworking for patients to aid communication between the hospital and families • Completing UK-ROC outcome measures as well as assessment and discharge reports
• Screening • Telephone and face-to-face assessment and treatment of clients with anxiety and depression • 1:1 low-intensity CBT and group interventions • Completion of coursework and required assessments
• Management of cognitive impairments, depression and anxiety symptoms • Administering a range of highly specialist neuropsychological and psychometric tests assessing a range of cognitive functions, setting up and manipulating test materials, conducting observations of patients’ cognitive abilities, emotional state and behaviour during examinations and recording assessment results • Providing neuropsychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical neuropsychologist • Working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified neuropsychologist • Assisting in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups • Assisting in the formulation and delivering of care plans involving neuropsychological treatment under the supervision of a qualified neuropsychologist • Working closely within a multidisciplinary team, participating in effective team functioning, holding team roles, attending and contributing to appropriate multidisciplinary meetings • Maintaining the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing • Assisting in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work
Whilst completing my placement year in Acute Stroke Unit (St George's Hospital) and Neurorehabilitation Unit (Queen Mary's Hospital), my responsibilities involved: • Supporting and enhancing the professional psychological care of clients within the neuropsychological neurorehabilitation service • Working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified neuropsychologist and within the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures • Assisting in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work • Maintaining the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with Service and Trust policies and procedures One of my biggest achievements was being offered a paid role at the end of my placement year as a result of my performance.
