Hemel Hempstead, England, United Kingdom
Atfter more than 50 years of life-experiences I learned a lot from the school of life. Especially in the year 2020 and 2021. Many people woke up by that time. My waking up happened when the famous credit crunch. Since then it is my dream to become more independent. And my goal is to achieve as much sovereignity as possible. I know the way to this status. But it is also a bit costy. This is why I decided to come back to Llinkedin for some time. Because I was pointed out to an opportunity that can hielp so many people. Since it has become more and more difficult to find jobs for many people, not only in the UK. I believe I made now the step from warehouse over to customer service, helping people, and helping myself, by the end of the day.
After several years in warehouse logistics—including seasonal work with Amazon—I decided to step away from physically demanding environments. The closure of our local Fulfillment Centre marked a turning point, and I chose to invest this time intentionally. I’ve focused on self-directed education in digital business, online sales, and sustainable self-employment models. My goal is to build a career that aligns with long-term autonomy, regardless of physical constraints or shifting labor expectations. This period has been about reclaiming control, exploring scalable income strategies, and preparing for meaningful, independent work in the years ahead.
After my little van broke down with almost 200k miles on it, defect turbo charger, I decided to discontinue the courier service and the 70 hours week. And changed the roles based on my new knowledge about warehouses, as I had visited so many of them. Most of these warehouse jobs had to be joined through agencies. So I signed up with Quest, Extrastaff, Pertemps, Ashenden. I have spend nearly two years in Amazon, F.C. and DHP1 in Hemel Hempstead. Picking items, picking parcels, sorting parcels. I only left because of the 39 rule for agency workers. If Amazon didn't plan to leven Hemel Hempstead, I certainly would have gone back there.
I did the typical work courier driver do: Collecting goods fro m A and brought them to B. Collections took place all over the place, eventhough many jobs started in Hemel Hempstead. The driving jobs came from a company called Citysprint. I loved this kind of work, because I was able to see lots of places in England. Sadly, this of self-employment is hard to scale up. And as long as it is a one-man show it requires everthing from you. And then there is a time when you run into burn-out.
I took a time off from Europe and I spent some time with a friend in Tanzania. Where I got lots of important lesssons, business-wise, how important a Network can be, and that you need phone numbers of important people in your phone. But I also learned about the problems in Africa. It was not my first time in Africa. But this time I stayed a bit longer than just for a normal holiday.
