I am passionate not only about software testing, but also about the people who make up the community. I share my learning in public, to bring others with me along on my journey.
- Created YouTube channel Karen Tests Stuff to explore the idea of Software Testing Advocacy and other ideas in testing - Utilized Streamlabs OBS to record, Descript for caption services, Twitch (future plan) for streaming
- Participated in Behavior Driven Development practices, through example mapping and writing scenarios to automate, which enhanced our team’s collaborative understanding of each story - Built on growing public speaking and community skills through presenting at corporate events, to advocate for others to get more involved in the communities available to them - Responsible for creation and execution of test plans including changes to both modern and legacy systems, to seamlessly integrate our testing through multiple complex services
- Led quality and testing efforts on cross-functional engineering teams for web and mobile applications - Gave constructive praise and suggestion within applications and projects, as well as peer-to-peer conversations and one-on-one meetings with leadership, to establish efficient feedback loops that increased visibility and trust in the team and with clients - Championed accessibility of our products by testing against WCAG standards and performing periodic audits with Lighthouse - Advocated for the value that testing brings to a team and a product, increasing the visibility of quality as a whole team approach - Promoted a risk-aware mindset on the engineering team, which allowed us to better prioritize features and meet our goals
- Accelerated agents’ productivity by gathering client documents and coordinating necessary inspections before their deadlines, which allowed them to take on more clients at a time and earn more business - Attracted and retained new and existing clients through touch points as well as events and referrals, which helped increase the pipeline of options for the agents’ networks
