I used to work in Banking and saying it was complicated is a massive understatement. Converting figures into insights was quite challenging to say the least. Currently am doing what I enjoy the most - Teaching !! My teaching philosophy is rooted in bridging the gap between theory and practice. With 15 years of corporate experience in the financial sector and 10 years of teaching experience, I strive to bring real-world relevance into the classroom. I believe that management education must go beyond textbooks to equip students with analytical thinking, ethical judgment, and problem-solving skills necessary for today’s dynamic business environment. In my teaching, I emphasize experiential learning through case studies, simulations, and industry projects that mirror real corporate challenges. I encourage students to question, debate, and apply concepts to contemporary financial and managerial contexts, fostering both critical and creative thinking. I view the classroom as a collaborative space where students and faculty learn together. My goal is to nurture curiosity, confidence, and leadership in students, enabling them to make informed and responsible business decisions. I also integrate technology and current financial trends to ensure learning remains relevant and engaging. Ultimately, I see my role not merely as an instructor but as a mentor who inspires students to translate academic insights into practical impact, preparing them to excel as professionals and contribute meaningfully to the world of management and finance. The Roles Risk & Control Team (Aug’ 13 – Till Date) Was the 2nd member of this new Team & gave full co-ordination & support in setting this team up. Reconciling all Treasury, CMS, Nostro, Trade, Remittances & Depository Accounts on a daily basis. Thoroughly understanding the nature of all the Accounts & the type of transactions that come in them. Monitoring account deviations & escalating them as per laid down procedures & reporting to the Vice-President. Reporting of any mismatch in Trade to the respective dealer / branch to avoid Position Mismatch and future loss. Investigating ways to improve profitability & mitigate risk. Sending daily MIS & Ageing reports to the respective teams daily at EOD. Engage in benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement. Keeping a tab on movements of high value transactions & ensuring they are not kept pending for long. Liasing with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of finances are maintained. Key purpose is for fraud detection, ensuring all accounting legs are passed & controlling them. Following up daily with Branches, Correspondent banks for unidentified credits, discrepancies if any. Actively participated in other activities too like idea generations, process improvements, etc. Maintaining an error log & doing a root cause analysis in-case of any errors. Also, Cheque Lodgement for all currencies & sending Forex deals to Treasury for processing transactions. Supply Chain Management Team (Jul’ 09 - Jul’ 13) Part of the HUB Team handling the Channel / Dealer / Vendor Financing pan-India for various Clients of the Bank. Rich knowledge on setting up of New Clients & their migration from competing banks for Channel Financing at the main Branches, making Financial forecasts & reporting to the Deputy Vice-President. Processing Invoice Lodgements, Loan Disbursals & Re-payments on a daily basis for all the Clients.
Acting as a Hub in the validation, reconciliation & dissemination of data, in pressure-cooker type situations & managing discrepancies in the RTGD Team. Leading the Team in ISO 27001 Certification, Six Sigma & SOX Audits. Initiating Process Improvements, simplifications & Internal controls for enhancing the Team’s Productivity & making optimum utilisation of resources. Did Activity & Objective Based Costing in the Securities Team as a Management Trainee for 3 Months (May’03 – July’03)
