Kanaye is a well-rounded, intellectually curious, and self-motivated individual with strong moral character. He demonstrates excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and has consistently demonstrated a strong dedication to academic excellence. In 2024, he clinched the silver medal in the National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI), Singapore’s most prestigious competitive programming competition. In 2025, he was awarded the Dean’s List in Mathematics for being among the top 10% of scorers in the subject in his cohort. He also received the Education Merit Award in 2024, a community-level award recognising the top 25% of students with the highest academic performance. A silver medallist in the 2023 Singapore Junior Physics Olympiad (SJPO), Kanaye was among a select few students chosen through a rigorous internal examination in 2024 to take part in the renowned Singapore Physics Olympiad. His pursuit of intellectual growth is evident from his selection to join the Accelerated Class for Science in 2022–2023 and the Advanced Science Programme in 2024–2025. These are specialised programmes catering to students with a keen interest in the sciences. Kanaye uses his passion for technology to contribute meaningfully to classroom learning and assist his peers. Across various subjects, teachers commend his advanced critical thinking skills, conceptual clarity, thoughtful questions, and eagerness to share knowledge and collaborate with classmates. He is known to study beyond the syllabus to deepen his understanding and enrich classroom discussions. Outside the classroom, Kanaye’s passion for learning continues to shine. In 2024 and 2025, he applied to and was selected for the Sentinel Programme, an initiative by Singapore’s Ministry of Defence to train future National Servicemen in programming and cybersecurity. He also started his own newsletter, Elucidate, to share his knowledge on competitive coding and problem-solving with a wider audience, demonstrating not only his desire to learn new skills, but also his eagerness to share these skills for the benefit of others. Kanaye also readily steps into leadership roles. He has served as a Staff Sergeant in the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) and as Vice President of the school’s Media Production Club. He has been praised as an “intelligent, confident and capable leader” for his initiative in group work, efficient delegation of tasks, and enthusiasm to share new ideas.
