www.kanakoabe.com Japanese conductor, composer and pianist born in Osaka, Kanako studied Piano from the age of 2. After her graduation at Tokyo University of Arts and  at  Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, she started her career first as a pianist. Her CD for Takemitsu solo piano works released in 2000 was highly appreciated by the critic. In 2005 she founded a chamber orchestra for contemporary music based in Paris “Ensemble Multilatérale” and became its music director (until 2014). Her repertoire covers from baroque to contemporary music. Especially, contemporary music is her speciality. She premiered more than 200 compositions and made lot of radio & CD recording in close collaboration with several composers including Jonathan Harvey, Marc-André Dalbavie, Michael Jarrell. She also conducted operas, such as “La Traviata”, “Macbeth” and “Die Zauberflöte” at Zürich Opera House, Opéra national Montpellier Occicitanie and Rhin National Opera. In 2013 Fabio Luisi asked her to be his assistant conductor at the Festival della Valle d'Itria. While attending to her aesthetic interest to different style of music, she conducts the orchestra such as Orchestre National d’Ile de France, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Orchestre Pasdeloup, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Phiharmonic Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic. As for social contribution, she organized and conducted in 2011 and 2012 at UNESCO, the charity concert for the victims of Earthquake and Tsunami in Tôhoku, sponsored by the Embassy of Japan. She also has a strong passion on education. She founded in 2014 the Indonesian Youth Symphony Orchestra and became its Music Director. She is currently the Music Director of the Orchestre Symphonique des Dômes, the president of The Association Franco Japonaise de la Musique Contemporaine, Artistic Director of Ensemble Orochi, also she is Music Partner of Tokyo Ensemnable Factory and Ensemble Muromachi. In July 2022 she made her debut to the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, conducting the world premiere of "Woman At Point Zero" composed by Bushra El-Turk. From April 2023 she makes the worldwide tours with "Woman At Point Zero" production, including the Royal Opera House in London and the Wiener Festwochen in Vienna.
