Kamila's aim is to creatively solve problems via interdisciplinary communication. Her current long term endgoal is to improve healthcare policy from the user's perspective. In exploring this broad "why", she's found that she consistently work to improve situations by seeing and hearing what people want to change and bridging people's ideas together. Kamila has 6 years of experience in a variety of industries within healthcare, and is now using communication background in a legal setting for 3 years. Her role as a mental health specialist for at risk youth involved facilitating activities for patients with a range of psychiatric disorders to aid them in managing their outbursts so they can transition to a less restrictive setting. Her EMT, lifeguard, and stage manager backgrounds, provide a unique perspective on problem solving that balances her biotech and human factors consulting experiences. Her research background involves volunteer neuroscience research in light therapies, contextual inquiry, ethnography, and creating interdisciplinary independent study projects. She has trained in usability testing methods, edited confidential documents in health information technology, biotechnology, and medical grants, to name a few. She has particular interest with non-medicinal therapies’ effect on patients, female health disorders, and improving mental and physical health. Kamila believes the best way to build rapport and trust, as well as grow as an individual, is to interact with people of all different backgrounds across a spectrum of scenarios. This means she is comfortable talking to C-Suite individuals, coworkers, healthcare providers, and elementary school students. Finding links to how to improve all people’s lives and communicate across backgrounds is her passion. She has been in mentoring leadership programs for 14 years, and remains a Schuler Scholar Alum mentor. Kamila has a background in health studies, neuroscience, and psychology, synthesized in a 2017 BA of Clinical Neuropsychology from Mount Holyoke College and a 2019 MS in Health Communication from Northwestern University.
