As a volunteer with CanAssist Africa, I had the privilege of supporting their mission to empower and uplift marginalized communities in East Africa. I created a new website for the organization, developing its structure, design, and all written content to reflect CanAssist Africa’s commitment to ethical, sustainable, and empowering development practices. The website enhances CanAssist Africa’s visibility and communicates their impactful work in funding infrastructure projects that serve poor and underserved communities. My contributions directly supported their donor engagement strategy, helping to connect more people with their mission and expanding their ability to create meaningful change. This experience allowed me to combine my skills in digital communication and storytelling with my passion for global development, making a tangible difference for communities in need.
During the summer before my final year of studies, I embarked on an unforgettable adventure across Europe. Starting in Scotland and traveling through England, France, and Italy, I returned to Scotland before concluding my journey in Spain. Along the way, I embraced the richness of each culture, navigating new environments with respect and adaptability. A highlight of my journey was spending three weeks volunteering on a family farm in Tuscany, Italy. There, I immersed myself in sustainable farming practices, helped plant crops, and shared meaningful moments with the family I stayed with. This experience taught me the importance of resilience, collaboration, and living in harmony with nature. Through moments of uncertainty and challenge, I discovered a deeper sense of self and an appreciation for the diversity of the world. This transformative journey was not just about exploring new places; it was about personal growth, embracing change, and savoring the beauty of my final long break before graduation.
