Working as a summer research Intern in Miller Lab, funded by the Amgen Scholars Program. Optimising GABAAR reconstitution into proteoliposomes and characterising function with BRET and electrophysiology.
Worked under PhD student Ailsa Gavan McHarg in Gouge Lab on characterising the structure of the HCV replication complex, specifically NS5A and NS5B proteins. During this project I created domain deletion proteins, gaining experience in PCR, Gibson Assembly, gel electrophoresis, insect cell culture and an ÄKTA purification system. Additionally, I used AlphaFold3 to model potential protein interactions and attended weekly lab meetings. I actively participated in discussions by presenting my progress and helping to troubleshoot.
