Most companies don't have a technology problem — they have an organization problem. AI moves in months; structures and skills take years to catch up. That gap is what interests me, both as a researcher and in practice. At HTW Berlin I research and teach how companies redesign job profiles, competencies and governance structures under the influence of AI. Empirically, in real organizations — not in the lab. Before academia I spent more than 15 years in industry — in corporate strategy at Jenoptik, at Swisscom and eBay. So I know what transformation feels like from the inside, not just how to describe it. What I work on: digital transformation of the organization, AI-driven organizational design, strategic competence and talent management. Selected books: Future Skills in Sales (Springer, 2025) Digital Competitive Advantage (Schäffer-Poeschel, 2024) Digital Transformation of Organizations (Springer, 2020) Competence Management in Practice (4th edition) If you're working on any of these — as a company, for a talk, or a research collaboration — feel free to reach out.
