London, England, United Kingdom
I work at the intersection of payments, fare collection, and transformation, helping organisations modernise critical infrastructure and deliver better customer and commercial outcomes at scale. Recent work has included CBDC interoperability, the modernisation of the UK’s real-time payments rail, and real-time fraud detection products in public transport. My background spans consulting, systems engineering, and product development, including work with TfL, the Bank of England, and Pay.UK. I bring a mix of strategic thinking, technical credibility, and delivery discipline in highly regulated environments. I’m especially interested in shaping the future of payments infrastructure, including transit payments, account-to-account journeys, open banking, and digital acceptance. I’m motivated by work that connects technology with real-world impact.
Leading transformation initiatives across the customer payments and fare collection portfolio.
At PA, I've worked with both public and private sector clients. In particular, I've: - Led a CBDC interoperability feasibility study with a central bank, including development of a POC. - Helped shape a £1.5 Bn IT service contract, processing payments at a world-renowned public transit agency. - Developed a product vision, strategy and roadmap for the adoption of ISO 20022 for a domestic interbank real-time retail payment rail. - Supported the procurement of new IT infrastructure to transform and modernise access to payment systems. - Defined a solution to detect real-time EMV payment fraud in a mass-transit context and crafted a model to estimate the solution's performance. - Shaped product strategy, designed and implemented requirements management processes for a start-up in a highly regulated environment. - Conducted commercial contract conformance for multiple clients.
Kai led a team of systems engineers through a number of program milestones, including PDR and CDR, for a new avionics product line. Kai was the owner of a critical work package, with a value in excess of £1 million, which involved supplying requirements for and overseeing the development of a sub-system with an international supplier. Kai applied agile principles and methodologies, to enable the incremental development of the product requirements and systems engineering artefacts. This included configuring tools such as Jira and Confluence to track and document progress and processes. As Requirements Manager for the product, Kai was responsible for administering the DOORS project and contributing towards the development of requirements, coaching others in writing requirements and using DOORs and providing assurance of requirements.
