I am highly regarded research leader with extensive knowledge of best practice in biosecurity science and management. I have a substantial record of achievement, and am known for my trust and credibility across all levels of government and the community. I have an extensive science background with over 20 years of experience in biodiversity and biosecurity in Australia and New Zealand. As a recognised subject matter expert I am able to provide high-level technical advice to a range of stakeholders. I currently lead a team of researchers, technical and policy staff focusing on invasive species surveillance, research and management. I am a holistic and strategic thinker who keeps the wanted aim and outcome as the foremost priority. I pride myself on using robust scientific principles, research and evidence as the basis of effective policy, investment and program prioritisation. I am a positive disruptor and I love a challenge and love being able to connect seemingly unrelated areas of science and technology to deliver innovative approaches to problems. I’m very practical and pragmatic and not afraid to adapt to new information. I’m proudly neurodivergent with a warped sense of humor and a coffee addiction for which I refuse to seek any help. I am excited to announce my new role as Biosecurity Technical Reform Manager. In this role I will be developing the Departments strategic biosecurity science plan and ensuring science remains a strong focus of our robust biosecurity here in WA. My focus will no longer be purely aquatic but will cover all areas of biosecurity science.
