Responsible for the P&L of Fugro Onshore and Nearshore operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, various Service Lines include Consulting, Geotechnical, Mining, Geophysics, Nearshore, Load Testing, and Asset Integrity. Bluecap Group’s modelling services extend to exploration targeting by means of the latest concepts in stress-strain modelling to predict areas of dilation and fluid flow. Bluecap Group also offers interpretation of aeromagnetic and radiometric data for delineation of major structures and lithological domaining. My various areas of expertise related to this role included: 3D geological and/or structural model from mining or exploration drillhole and mapping datasets; 3D geological and/or structural model validation; 3D modelling training (Micromine and Leapfrog); Stress-strain modelling; 3D geological/geotechnical hazard identification; 3D modelling due diligence; Structural mapping; Lithological and structural interpretation of geophysical datasets; Lithological and structural interpretation of LandSat/ASTER datasets; GIS compilations (ESRI ArcGIS); Data validation and data verification. In addition to this I built and managed client relationships, pitched proposals and consulting offerings to potential clients, managed project profitability and billing, and performed on-going analysis of projects and company profitability.
Duties included, but were not limited to, mapping & analysis of deposits and prospects, 3D modelling of major structures, fracture zones, lithologies, ore volumes, country rocks and alteration/mineralisation zones, forward structural modelling in mineral exploration, interpretation of geophysical data, regional data compilations, and 3D modelling training (Micromine).
The position as Project Geologist at RES required me to take an active role in the running of our operations in Botswana. I was responsible for the oversight of our soil sampling program and the supervision of diamond and RC drill rigs for the client. Duties included, but were not limited to, managing all data collected, dispatching field soil sampling teams to appropriate locations, reporting to the Directors of RES and to the client for whom the work was carried out, assuming overall responsibility for all staff on site, managing all the logistics of running a field camp and managing diamond drill programs. Furthermore it was required of me to maintain the integrity of our database and help with the Magnetic Surveys when needed.
The Operations part of the title comes from the responsibility of running a field camp. Duties included, but were not limited to, running sampling and ground magnetic survey teams, training of sampling team leaders, maintaining vehicles, and maintaining a high safety standard for everyone involved (at one point 33 people).
