I led the diverse parent community of this Title 1 NYC public school during dramatic changes to its student population as a result of DOE enrollment policy changes, initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was focused on ensuring that this school is perceived accurately, as an excellent option for students of all ability levels. Part of my mission was to make sure its students have what they need to learn and succeed, through fundraising of all sorts and making the Parents' Association a 501(c)(3). I also worked to ensure parents feel empowered in their partnership with the school. Finally, I was the high school representative for the District Leadership Team (DLT) of NYC's District 2.
As president of this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, I built and led its parent community and fund-raising efforts to support the education, lives, and futures of NYC teens and their families. I helped transition the school community to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically with regard to communications, educational technologies, and governance.
I taught a master's level course in Consumer Behavior in the Department of Psychology, Social and Consumer Psychology Specialization. I also helped qualify students to earn their Master's degrees by evaluating their examinations for the Social & Consumer Psychology specialization.
