I am an assistant professor in the School of Aerospace Engineering and the director of the Air Transportation Systems Design Laboratory (ATSDL) at Sejong University. Prior to joining Sejong University, I worked for American Airlines, located in Dallas, as a full-time operations research analyst. With the aid of the Korean Government Overseas Scholarship program, I received my Ph.D. in Computational Science and Engineering (home unit: Aerospace Engineering) from the Georgia Institute of Technology, located in Atlanta. My research focuses on integrating different areas of specialization (i.e., machine learning, optimization, and systems design) and utilizing them to solve real-world problems in the aviation industry. I am particularly interested in air traffic management, aviation environmental impact assessment, airport modeling and simulation, advanced air mobility.
