Julian A. Villar is a graduate of Saint Xavier University, whom of which majored in Computer Science and minored in Graphic Design. He is motivated to liveout a successful and fulfilling career in the technology domain through his passion for Cyber and Network Security. Throughout his career Julian has taken on numerous roles, obtaining a colorful palette of soft and technical skills: Computer Science Tutor Role: Assisted students in mastering their skills in web design & development, computer networking, and video game design & development. Cyber Security Engineer Intern: coding switch configuration tools using Visual Basic for Applications, documenting cyber security processes, configuring network servers, and racking and configuring Stratix switches in an industrial server room Julian also is an active member of the Cyber and Network Security community by partaking in numerous Capture the Flag competitions, attending Cyber Security conferences, and recently obtaining a position as a Network Engineer at Rockwell Automation, Inc.
- Deliver expert consulting, strategic guidance, and comprehensive support in OT/ICS cybersecurity. - Spearhead the configuration, deployment, and optimization of advanced OT/ICS cybersecurity solutions. - Collaborate in the design and implementation of robust security architectures tailored for industrial environments. - Diagnose and resolve critical issues encountered by clients during the deployment of Claroty security solutions. - Analyze and align with customer objectives and challenges to drive successful outcomes with Claroty’s solutions.
- Customer facing role specializing in OT cybersecurity, computer networking, and network virtualization. - Experience in cyber risk assessments, continuous threat detection & secure remote access solutions, network assessments, designs, & implementation, industrial data center implementation, and iDMZ solutions. - Provides advanced network and industrial data center remote support and troubleshooting. - Responsibilities encompass the entirety of a project lifecycle, from kickoff to completion, including technical communication, information gathering, design, implementation, and troubleshooting. - Travel approximately 50% of the time to engage directly with customers and align with their needs, as well as to deliver a comprehensive solution on an in-person basis.
- Completed Rockwell Automation’s intensive E.I.T core training, encompassing the foundation of Rockwell’s solutions, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and legacy PLC programming and configuration, VFD configuration, FactoryTalk suite, and computer networking. - Partook in advanced network and industrial data center remote support, addressing customer issues, including network changes & issues, Active Directory account creation & modification, VMware, and more. -Completed Rockwell Automation’s Advanced Software & Process training, gaining a foundation on Rockwell’s software & process solutions, including PlantPAx, SQL, AssetCentre, FactoryTalk Historian, and more. - Completed Network & Cybersecurity Application Consulting training, developing a foundation of bill of materials creation, portfolio offerings quoting, and consulting website creation.
The main goals of Cougar Code are to close the gender gap in the Computer Science field and to push our members further by improving their networking skills and expanding their connections. Cougar Code also helps our members discover new opportunities and even create some by having short-term collaborative projects.
Student Ambassadors act as representatives of the University and Office of Admissions. The primary function of Ambassadors is to lead tours of campus for prospective students and families, as well as staff special events throughout the year.
Assist multiple professors within various university courses, such as Web Applications I, Introduction to Networks, and Virtual Worlds, during class with teaching basic fundamentals related to the course work to students. During working hours, outside of class, assists over seventy students with any homework they may need help with related to the classes and/or further explain material taught within the class.
