Julian Hudson is a trombonist, composer, arranger, educator, and recording artist in the NJ/NYC area. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Morehouse College, and is pursuing a Master of Music Degree in Jazz Performance at New York University studying under Dion Tucker. Julian started on the piano at 5 years old before moving to the trombone at age 10. He has worked with many influential figures in the musical world such as Mark Gross, Earl McIntyre, Wayne Escoffery, Valery Ponomarev, Uzee Brown Jr, Kennard Garrett, Justin "Henny Tha Bizness" Henderson, Tia Fuller, Sean Jones, Rufus Reid, Michael Dease, Branford Marsalis, and Lenny White. Inspired by jazz trombone legends such as JJ Johnson, Curtis Fuller, and Slide Hampton, Julian has been a part of many renowned music programs such as the New Jersey Performing Arts Center Jazz for Teens Program, Berklee College of Music's Aspire 5-Week Intensive, and the Brevard Music Center Jazz institute. He has performed at many iconic venues such as Clement's Place, the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, Smalls Jazz Club, and Dizzy's Jazz Club/Jazz at Lincoln Center. Julian has taught music in many different capacities, such as his masterclass at the Musical Society of Nigeria in Lagos, his teaching assistant role at the 2022 Jazz House Kids Summer Workshop directed by Christian McBride, his position as trombone mentor with the Atlanta Music Project, and teaching private lessons outside of his studies. As a composer and arranger, Julian premiered his first original composition "A New Perspective" with NJPAC Jazz for Teens' James Moody Jazz Orchestra. In creating Morehouse's first Brass Ensemble, he premiered his first classical composition "Crossing Paths," which expresses elements of both classical and commercial music. He currently writes music across a wide variety of styles, ranging from Chamber Music to Marching Band. Some of Julian's past awards and honors include performing in the House Band for the Nigerian Headies Awards, an induction into the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society (Iota Omega Chapter), the Theodore Presser Undergraduate Music Scholarship, and an Outstanding Soloist Award given by Wynton Marsalis at Jazz at Lincoln Center's HBCU Residency sponsored by the Virginia Arts Festival. His recording credits include the music of Lil Wayne for Morehouse College's record label PACE Recordings, Monica Pearson's "One-On-One" Christmas TV show with the Atlanta Music Project Senior Youth Orchestra, and Travis Scott's "4x4" Super Bowl Music Video with Drumline Live.
