I am the Section 106 Coordinator at Caltrans Cultural Studies Office, Co-Chair of the SAA Government Affairs Committee, mother of two, and passionate advocate for people designing the kinds of careers and lifestyles they want. I have worked as a professional archaeologist for 15 years, 12 of them in a lead capacity. As an archaeologist I am skilled with CEQA, NHPA Section 106, NEPA, GIS technology, data management, human and faunal identification, technical report peer review and writing, research, and educational outreach. As an artist, I use acrylics, ink, and corel painter/wacom tablet to make imagined landscapes, logos, and characters. As a career coach, I helped people break out of the boundaries of degrees and past jobs to take control of their career path. I apply skills from this in my current work. Current research interests are in career paths and professional development of anthropology majors, and improving data management systems of agencies to improve the environmental process and capability for emergency response. Specialty 2 year term as the NHPA Section 106 Reviewer for Broadband Projects at the Cultural Studies Office in the Division of Environmental Analysis at Caltrans Headquarters. Review cultural studies and findings, coordinate with and advise specialists, and develop recommendations regarding broadband projects across the state.
Do commissions and donate designs for a variety of organizations and needs. Work for anthropological related purposes has included logos for 2 anthropology-based groups (Bioanth News Network and BANDIT), t-shirt designs for 2 Chico Forensic Conference fundraisers, poster and banner designs for 4 conferences and speaker events, 1 book cover, and illustrations for one book (Purposeful Pain). Non-anthropological work includes personalized logos, landscapes and nature based acrylic paintings on canvas, inked illustrations, and digital art.
I help early to mid-career professionals navigate career change and job hunting to find positions more in line with their life and position needs and goals. I am specialized in working with those whom have obtained degrees in one of the 4 sibdisciplines of anthropology, especially other archaeologists whom are looking to take control of their current career trajectories.
