As a Pelvic floor physical therapist, I am able to evaluate patients and treatment that focuses on pain, weakness, and dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles. It also includes related problems of the urinary, reproductive and gastrointestinal systems.
•Provide evidence based treatment to patient population with various orthopedic diagnoses and sports injuries including acute & chronic joint pain (shoulders, neck, back, knees), muscle strain, ligamentous injuries and fractures etc. • Ability to make good rapport with referring orthopedic surgeons, pain management and primary care physicians regarding patients. • Evaluate and treat patients with chronic pelvic pain, stress and urge incontinence, pre and post partum pelvic care, chronic back pain and overall wellness. • Establish new referrals from gynecologists, primary care physicians and pain management physician for pelvic related diagnoses. • Organize free educational seminars to increase awareness and education among people regarding physical therapy role for treating diagnosis related to pelvic floor dysfunction. • Ability to apply clinical skills such as utilization of therapeutic exercises, mulligan joint mobilization, cupping, kinesio-taping, IASTM tools, neuro-stimulation and deregulation etc. to treat the patient population mentioned above. • Provide guidance and education to technicians who are interested in pursuing career as Physical Therapist. •Delegate and supervise the utilization of PTAs, as well as supportive personnel to maximize patient outcomes and insure effective utilization of services.
•Evaluate various orthopedic, musculoskeletal, neurological diagnoses and establish appropriate plan of care and treatment goals. • Provide care to post surgical patients and maintain good communication with referring surgeon regarding patient's progress while using surgeon specific rehabilitation protocols. • Apply clinical skills such as utilization of therapeutic exercises, joint mobilization, kinesio-taping, IASTM tools, neuro-stimulation and deregulation, Mckenzie technique etc. to treat the patient population mentioned above. • Advocate for patients by maintaining good communication with referring physicians and occasionally insurance companies to ensure patients receive appropriate care. •Delegate and supervise the utilization of PTAs, as well as supportive personnel to maximize patient outcomes and insure effective utilization of services.
•Evaluate assigned patients and establish appropriate treatment goals and treatment programs. •Provide ongoing evaluation of patient’s status and goals, modify treatment program for timely progression. •Develop comprehensive goals for patient treatment to maximize patient outcomes and return to community activities. •Provide patient education on comprehensive and progressive home programs with instruction to patient, family and other caregivers as appropriate to facilitate a safe and effective discharge. •Prepare for patient discharge inclusive of ordering of necessary equipment and recommending therapeutic services to ensure continuum of care. •Delegate and supervise the utilization of PTAs, as well as supportive personnel to maximize patient outcomes and insure effective utilization of services.
• Performed evaluation and implemented plan of care for patients with multi-organ failure who require longer hospital stay. Patient care ranged included ventilator weaning, complex respiratory conditions, infectious diseases, complex wound care, heart failure, neurological disorders, post-trauma care, renal disorders, bariatric care and Surgical complications. • Engaged in "Interdisciplinary Team" meetings which included team of physician, physical therapist, occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, nursing, dietitian, and case manager to discuss progress and anticipated goals for patients. • Provided training to in house CNAs, nursing staff and rehab aides regarding adaptive equipments and proper body mechanics during patient transfers using Hover Matt, Sara Stedy and mechanical lift. • Utilized FIM as a outcome measure to assess patients during initial evaluation, reassessments and discharge. • Performed in-service on " Roles of OT/PT/ST in Long Term Acute Care Setting" to newly hired nursing, rehab and CNA members during orientation. • Provided supervision and direction to PTA staff and Rehab Aides.
