About

I'm a builder. A strategist. A business owner. A safety and risk professional. Most people understand the theory, design the plan, or run the operation. I do all three. I have led safety and operations across every mode of surface transport, freight and passenger, and in medical manufacturing. Whether it is high-risk, high-consequence freight or a family carried between cities, the core service is the same: trust, delivered by a professional. I architect and deliver that. The hardest version is hazmat by tank truck. I build teams that read risk early, driven by data and a culture the workforce owns. Risk management is the throughline. I oversee insurance programs across domestic and global markets, building systems that protect people and process. The bottom line is the byproduct. I am as at home at an underwriter's table as in a truck yard. As Board Chair of the Alberta Motor Transport Association, I built what no single carrier could: a permanent industry safety campus and the for-profit corporation that operates it. Corporate vision translated to an enabling governance challenged to think differently delivered the outcome. I came up through the fire service and emergency management. Forged by fire - figuratively and literally - the plans I helped author for large scale emergency response / evaluations of industrial work sites with 10,000+ people translated to the evacuation of Fort McMurray during the 2016 wildfire. I was on the ground leading. An event that tested pre-planned evacuation, business continuity, business resumption, and business recovery in the midst of the most costly disaster in Canada's history. I held the reins and delivered a recoverey 80% under the preliminary assessed loss. I build systems that keep people safe and businesses that compound value. What has always come next is the same work at a larger table, a bigger workforce, a larger footprint. Same standard. Every day. Always.

    Jun 2017 - Present · 9 yrs 1 mo

Translating strategic leadership, business acumen, and transportation safety excellence into strategic frameworks that empower fleet operators to transform compliance from burden to competitive advantage. As advisor to the CEO and architect of tactical strategy, I help guide Strategic HSE’s evolution as we redefine what partnership means in the compliance sector. **Strategic Vision & Impact:** Championing a fundamental shift in how transportation companies approach regulatory excellence – from reactive compliance management to proactive operational empowerment. By bridging the gap between regulatory complexity and business reality, we enable our clients to reclaim their focus on growth, innovation, and service delivery. Our human-first, technology-enabled philosophy isn’t just about meeting regulations; it’s about liberating fleet operators from the administrative burden that constrains their potential. We believe every transportation company deserves a trusted partner who understands that behind every compliance requirement is a business trying to serve its customers better, safer, and more efficiently. **Leadership Philosophy:** Drawing from 350+ years of combined industry leadership across our team, we translate deep sector expertise into accessible, actionable strategies that elevate our clients’ capabilities. Our role is to absorb complexity and deliver clarity – ensuring that sophisticated compliance management becomes a source of confidence rather than concern. As strategic advisor, I focus on identifying emerging industry challenges and developing anticipatory solutions that position both Strategic HSE and our clients ahead of the regulatory curve. This means thinking beyond today’s requirements to build resilient frameworks that adapt as the industry evolves. The ultimate measure of our success isn’t our growth – it’s our clients’ freedom to focus on their core business while we handle the complexity of compliance.
