I am the CEO and President of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the professional home for privacy and AI governance with over 90,000 members. I have been a speaker at SXSW, TEDx, RSA, the Global Privacy Assembly, Mobile World Congress, and other privacy and technology events. I contribute to media outlets such as The New York Times, TechCrunch, Hard Fork, and WIRED and have provided testimony on issues of privacy, digital policy and technology before the U.S. House and Senate, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, British Parliament, EU Parliament and more. As a thought leader on privacy and AI governance around the world, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of federal privacy legislation, the CAN SPAM Act, state privacy laws, AI policy, and FTC regulations.
The IAPP is the global professional home for privacy, AI governance, cybersecurity law and digital responsibility. The IAPP provides certification, education, and networking opportunities to over 85,000 members in over 150 countries.
I teach privacy law at the University of Maine School of Law.
