Dr. Jose Ronaldo Lima de Carvalho is an ophthalmologist and scientific researcher, specialized in inherited retinal dystrophies, ophthalmic genetics and electrophysiology. He is passionate about medicine, genetics and public health. Over the past several years, Dr. Lima de Carvalho has helped many patients, families and visually impaired athletes to achieve independence, rehabilitation and inclusion. In addition, Dr. Lima de Carvalho has successfully mentored and taught several medical students and ophthalmology residents. In his career in Ophthalmology, Dr. Lima de Carvalho has performed clinical and pre-clinical research in retina and ophthalmic genetics, including inherited retinal dystrophies and autosomal dominant optic atrophy, as well as worked with low vision rehabilitation and patient empowerment. Moreover, his passion for inclusion and healthcare equity has led him to work in remote areas in the Northeast of Brazil and in the Amazon Rainforest.
