A sack of potatoes, some Erlenmeyer flasks, one well-worn backpack, and a stubbornness (or caffeine addiction) that has gotten me into as many predicaments as remarkable moments! I've been very fortunate in my life to travel across 4 continents and 35 countries, once carrying a sack of potatoes into Austria to cut food costs. I've biked through the snow to study in veterinary research labs in Estonia and hiked to animal sanctuaries in Thailand to bathe and feed rehabilitating elephants. I've hosted and translated free medical clinics in the jungles of Nicaragua and Panama, providing dental and medical care with limited access to clean water. Every encounter I've had has taught me to be resourceful, to find unconventional solutions at roadblocks, and to appreciate everything I have in this life. Everything I've experienced has led me to here - to choose software development as my goal for the future. Every day, we are moving more towards a technological world. I want to be challenged to think and to know "how" I can improve lives through elegant code and bring analog inefficiencies into the digital age. I set up assembly line medical tool cleaning stations in Panama when we didn't have running water at our clinic and I hand-wrote medical records for our patients, some of whom hadn't had care in over a year. So many times I thought about how I could improve their lives and the lives in many other under-resourced communities through the efficiencies of software, data management, and technology. If it's just one life that can be improved because they have an easily accessible digital medical record or user friendly research interface, then I would consider myself to be moving in the right direction. Improving lives with my coding is something that I will strive for my entire career and I am looking for a company who shares the same goals!

All logos and CSS for the application were designed originally and from scratch. - Vending Machine Application - Created a vending machine program in a team of 3 that displays an inventory of items, allows purchases, and logs data using Java concepts of BigDecimal, object oriented programming, class design, and unit testing - Money Transfer Application: Developed an MVC formulated application similar to Venmo using Java, SQL, Spring Boot, and RESTful API design to view user, account, transfer data and to send amounts with BigDecimal - Zombie Snail: L. paradoxum Fan Page: Designed a responsive web page using HTML and CSS describing the biology of Leucochloridium paradoxum infection in snails in a fun and creative layout - Creme Brulee Recipe Web Page - Designed a tribute page using responsive web design, HTML, and CSS
