Joy L. Martin is a talented and experienced American writer, teacher and arts project manager and grants consultant based in Norwich, UK. She has a BA (Hons) 2.1 in English from the University of Cambridge and a MRes from The London Consortium exploring Mindfulness in literature. She holds a CELTA teaching qualification (ESL). Writer: She is a National Centre for Writing Associate Artist 2023. Her debut novel, funded by a grant from Arts Council England (ACE), is now completed and will shortly be out for submission. Her short fiction and non-fiction culture writing are published in MoonPark Review, The Stage, American Theatre, Exeunt Magazine and Arcs and Beats Blog. She has recently been awarded a DYCP grant from ACE to develop her second full-length work, a creative memoir. Teacher: Following her CELTA (B-Pass) teaching certification, she spent a year teaching English at Accademia Britannica, Arezzo, Italy, teaching both young people and adults. She has also been a guest teacher of creative writing for Cambridge Community Arts and a Workshop Leader on the National Centre for Writing Springboard programme. Grants Consultant and Project Manager (Arts): After working as a grant assessor for Arts Council England, she has worked as a freelance grant-writer, consultant and project manager for arts organisations and private individuals, including National Centre for Writing, Norwich Puppet Theatre and Curious Spark.
