As a senior underwriter, I handle new business submissions for two of the largest NYC Metro-Area producers for our company. I am responsible for evaluating submissions for adequacy and accuracy as well as risk pricing and negotiation of terms and conditions. As a senior home office underwriter, I was responsible for handling all new business and renewal referrals from our New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut branch offices. I worked very closely with both our Chief Underwriting Officer and Chief Executive Officer on the larger and more complex pieces of business being referred, which included renewal policies with premiums up to $2.5mm. I was directly responsible for making decisions regarding pricing, terms, and conditions, including the placement of facultative reinsurance, on all referrals
Assist in the appraisal of a variety of commercial real estate types in the New England area. Previous assignments have included: retail, office, multi-family (both affordable and market rate), and industrial properties. I have worked on both proposed and completed developments. Gather and analyze market information from brokers and financial information from property owners and developers for use in appraisal reports. Construct both direct-cap and DCF models (Argus and Excel) for property valuation purposes.
Review insurance policies, quotes, and proposals for clients primarily in the Manufacturing, Distribution, and Technology fields. Make coverage recommendations based on expertise and the needs of the client. Communicate with clients and brokers to resolve oustanding issues and coverage deficiencies
Underwrote Property & Casualty lines for Commercial Real Estate risks. Specialized in habitational risks (apartments, condominiums, cooperatives), restaurants, hotels, office buildings, and strip malls. I started out in GNY's home office in New York City, where I handled new business for the "New Territories" team, encompassing Upstate New York, the Mid-Atlantic States (MD, DE, VA), and the Midwest (IL, IN, MI, OH). In October, 2009 I transferred to the Quincy, MA office, where I handled new business for 13 producers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I also assisted in handling larger premium (> $50,000) and high-loss ratio (> 50%) renewals for half of all New England producers
