As a cardiologist and EHRA fully Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (level 2) at Isala, I focus on cardiac device therapy and electrophysiology, having performed over 1,200 device implantations and more than 700 ablations to date. My work is dedicated to improving patient care and advancing rhythm management at our tertiary heart center. At Isala, we provide a comprehensive range of advanced cardiac interventions. Our team specializes in device therapies, including extraction and recanalization procedures, ICD solutions without transvenous leads, conduction system pacing, and complex ablations. These include endocardial and epicardial VT ablations, Vein of Marshall alcohol ablations, and open chest procedures in collaboration with cardiothoracic surgery. This breadth of expertise positions us as a leading center for rhythm care. In addition to clinical responsibilities, I take an active role in planning procedures in the electrophysiology lab and coordinating physician schedules. This ensures resources are used efficiently and workflows run smoothly to support both patients and colleagues. A key part of my role is organizing structured case discussions for rhythm disorders, creating a multidisciplinary platform to address complex questions and referrals. These discussions promote transparent, evidence-based decision-making for both device-related and electrophysiology cases, helping to achieve the best outcomes for patients and providing clarity for referring physicians. As a permanent team member, I am committed to training and mentoring cardiology fellows and colleagues with an interest in rhythm management. By encouraging hands-on learning and collaboration, I aim to support the development of future specialists and maintain the high standards of care our center is known for.
