I'm an Industrial Designer with a passion for engineering and manufacturing. My curiosity drives me to ask critical questions and think beyond assumptions. Programming machine sequences, toolpaths and designing machine processes using turret punching, forming and laser cutting CNC technologies. ◘ Developed sheetmetal and fabricated products from concept to manufacturing and assembly, including the ideation sketching, Solidworks models, prototyping, testing, detailed manufacturing drawings and machine programs. ◘ Combined the machine tooling and capabilities to maximize the use of material up to 97% and reduce machining times to half. ◘ Worked on over 4000 custom and production projects. ◘ Created automated CNC machine processes in long production runs to maximize machine output with no operator needed, using automatic material loading and automatic part picking for palletizing. ◘ Designed and produced tooling, jigs and processes for turret punches, press brakes, fabrication and assembly. ◘ Managed workflow for the turret punches and press breaks machine operators, assisting them with general machine issues, programs and tooling overview and general guidance on the intended outcome for each run, including expected product quality, quantity and any specification for the final product. ◘ Achieved an effective English communication between project estimators, plant managers, operators and fabricators to achieve the desired outcome given by the scope of the projects within the allocated timeframes.
Management of a 10-15 people contractor crew for the remodeling of a whole floor of classrooms and toilets for the Chilean Autonoma University, intended for kinesiology, occupational therapy and other health disciplines classes. ◘ Workflow and tasks planning, resulting in the efficient use of the project's time and resources. ◘ Supervising and delegating tasks for multiple contractors, including demolitions, new wall subdivisions, plumbing, ceiling, flooring, electricity, framing, painting and fixtures and furniture installing, among others. ◘ Designed and implemented solutions for various construction challenges on site. ◘ Followed and quality checked the specifications and finishing scopes of the architectural drawings, ensuring that the proper standards were met.
◘ Assembled a company from scratch, including the digital media, administration aspects and all necessary physical assets and supplies. ◘ Created and fabricated custom designs for our clients based on their scope and requirements. ◘ Designed, organized, and delegated tasks for site installations. ◘ Manufactured wooden and steel products in one offs and production batches. ◘ As a start-up, I managed and executed all aspects of the business, from sales, design, fabrication and delivery.
◘ Research seminar over experimental materials and processes, through projects created and implemented by the students. ◘ Followed up and guided the different investigation projects purposed by the students. ◘ Managed the class and answered questions on behalf of the main professor when needed.
◘ Creation of parametric 3D models and technical drawings for the research project, Motochi-e. ◘ Reverse engineering and measuring over the classic, iconic Chilean motorcycle from the 70's using a salvaged used unit. ◘ 3D models and detailed drawings of all the parts, created with the intent of archiving, redesigning and manufacturing parts for the intellectual and physical conservation of the design.
◘ Core career course where the students apply their skills to solve industrial design challenges. ◘ Worked alongside the professor to guide a wide range of student projects under the topics of authorship design, concept based design and applied DFM with a local aluminium lighting manufacturer. ◘ Best score as teaching team awarded by the students over all imparted courses in campus on semester 2, 2017.
