In my years of being summer help at SMA Construction I have learned a lot about work ethic. Obviously with this job there is a lot of hard work that comes along with it and it really shows a lot about the people that are able to put their heads down and grind through it. Being a laborer for this company and experiencing the days of pouring concrete when it is 100 degrees outside in the middle of July has taught me more about work ethic than I think any schooling ever could. This job has really shaped me from the 17 year old boy I was when I started to the man that I am right now. Because of this job I have the mindset that I will do whatever is needed of me no matter how hard or strenuous the job may be, and you will always get everything I have while doing the job.
Starting this job as a 16 year old high school student taught me the basics of what it is like to be a dependable worker and what is expected out of you as an employee. What started as coming in after school a couple days a week to clean turned into working every day and being allowed to be on the floor selling products to people. As an employee at Team 2 I sold motorcycle parts and accessories as well as apparel to customers. This job taught me how to correctly interact with people and I believe is a big reason as to why I do not have any issues talking to other people that I do not know. At the end of my time at Team 2 I was a senior in high school managing a seasonal mall store all by myself. I would go to school a full 8 hours during the day and then would head to the mall store right after and work for 8 hours and on every weekend. I feel that I showed I was very trustworthy and dependable in this stage since my boss had allowed an at the time 17 year old kid run a mall store with tens of thousands of dollars worth of product in it.
