MSc in Public Administration, MSc in Management, and Lean Green Belt. I studied Public Administration at the Leiden University, receiving a master's degree in Crisis and Security management. My thesis "Community Policing Against Terrorism: A Report on the everyday implementation of counterterrorism policy" discussed the role of street-level bureaucrats in stopping radicalisation. In 2018 I earned my second master's degree, this time in Management Sciences at the Open University. The title thesis of my thesis was: "Managing the supply chain for People, Planet & Profit - A report on the influence of control and governance practices in supply chain management on the triple bottom line". It showed the potential for the application of organizational control and governance efforts across organizational boundaries. This led me presenting my research at two conferences and a publication in the journal Sustainability. Before working at my current job I did many different things, resulting in a broad range of experiences; From barista at Starbucks, selling suits and ice cream, working in a callcenter, to training people, giving presentations, guiding tours, implementing new policies, organizing conferences, and so on. Specialties: Thinking and talking about almost anything, as a result of being curious and having a wide interest. Subjects like the phenomenon of terrorism, management structures and actions, promotion work and tactics, identity profiling and branding, about politics and a future view on government and bureaucracy, but also anything considering Batman, art, movies, drawing and painting, and tons of trivial facts that might surprise most.
Holland Rijnland is an regional governmental organization tasked with enhancing the cooperation of 13 municipalities on shared topics. I'm the secretary of the management team and also perform duties to our board comparable to those of a council clerk: Preparation and distribution of meeting documents, making minutes, annual planning, as well as general support and advice in the administrative decision-making process. Next to these tasks, my role is very flexible to the current needs in the organization. I led the project for our part in the regional transition to new computer systems, which was expidited because of covid and everybody having to work from home. In several other processes I applied my Lean Green belt. To put it briefly, I do a lot and my colleagues know where to find me when they want to know something or need something done. Via Public Support as secondment until January 2016, when I joined Holland Rijnland full-time
For eight months I was on (part-time) secondment in Oegstgeest, one of the municipalities of Holland Rijnland. During this time I helped the team leader in his task to make his team develop and further improve their performance. This concerned activities in finance, communication, and legal. Interviews were held with the mayor and alderman to define the needs, with the employees themselves to get a full picture of the work, and with partner organizations and neighboring municipalities to look at the possibilies for outsourcing and/or cooperation. The result was a report with several scenarios and an advice for the preferred scenario for each team, for the board of mayor and aldermen to decide on.

via Public Support. I worked on the preparations for a pilot on the topic of the Dutch laws considering alcohol and the hotel and catering industry. A combination of stores and places where alcohol is sold is legally not allowed. For a few years now the Dutch municipalities are the ones required to enforce these strict laws, which in practice has proven to be difficult as well as sometimes not the preferred course of action. The pilot started in 2016 and provides a sample group of municipalities the possibility to look for a more tolerant and workable approach when it comes to a number of those laws. Tasks: doing research, reading and writing summaries of reports, organizing meetings with stakeholders, and contributing to documents like the toolkit and the plan of approach.
