During my tenure as a Junior Research Analyst, I primarily contributed as a writer for a socio-political and media-focused research insight publication, while also serving as a fact-checker for FactCheck.lk. I led the research for the report titled Trend Analysis of Violence Against Christians in Sri Lanka. I played a key role in research communication within the Media Research team, ensuring that complex findings were clearly conveyed to diverse audiences.
• Gained overall knowledge of the political and media landscape in Sri Lanka. • Research/research writing on areas of law, politics, media and economics for FactCheck.lk. (A platform that examines the statements made by high-profile decision makers of the country) • Provided assistance in the development of research reports on information disorder/ disinformation in Sri Lanka, on religious freedom and violence in Sri Lanka, hate speech in Sri Lanka, on the media portrayal of China and on issues concerning youth unemployment. • Writing of mainstream political analyses for The Media Analysis. • Provided assistance in identifying ethical violations of the Sri Lankan press. Had good exposure to the working of a law firm and saw first-hand what is involved in the running and management of a law firm. Attended general preliminary stage and trial stage court proceedings. Observed client consultations and the running of numerous client files.
