Manage a streamlined team of 3, including myself, a Senior Technician and an Apprentice ICT Technician. Support over 1000 users and 800 devices. Manage 3 large budgets within the academy whilst reducing costs and working closely with 3rd parties where necessary to provide the best possible service to our stakeholders. Manage all incoming helpdesk requests and delegate amongst team. Manage, maintain, plan and upgrade VMware host server environment with Hitachi AMS SAN’s + Server 2008 R2 + Windows Server 2003 virtual servers. Manage, maintain and upgrade network infrastructure, implementing strategic development of LAN/WAN connectivity, filtering products and routing/firewalls. Manage and maintain IP telephony system running Cisco IP phones operating over the Voicenet telephony system. Member of the academy marketing team which works to promote the core values of the academy and to publicise events and strategic target audience marketing. Work in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement innovative technologies within the classroom. Management and oversight of building management system including Trend 963 software platform. Manage, maintain and upgrade CCTV system, including integration with alarm system. Manage and maintain Paxton Door Access system including fault resolution on system faults. Ensure Health and Safety of users with regards to ICT within the Academy.
Managing multiple operating systems from Windows 7 back to Windows 98. Mainly linux server environment, so use of SSH essential. Managing 1st and 2nd line Serco CMIS and eportal issues. General 3rd line end user support. Carrying out server set-ups, including Hardware and Software RAID. Liaising with suppliers to guarantee the school quick turnaround on faulty or products to be ordered. Working with other technicians to problem solve responsibly and in a prompt fashion in line with the departments service ethos. Helping the Media Technicians with AV equipment resolutions and performance related support. Servicing and repairing AV equipment such as projectors, headphones, amplifiers and Audio Cabling. Managing two Apple Mac suites running on a separate network.
Responsible for managing whole school printing budget. Use of LDAP, DHCP, DNS, WLAN and RDP all advanced further. Daily maintenance of Server 2003 and network backups (Veritas Backup Exec.). Managing fat and thin clients including Citrix thin client environment with 7 server farm, this included 5 client servers, a gateway and a dedicated firewall. Co-ordinating with Network Manager to further the schools hardware resume. Supporting local primary schools with their networks (three schools weekly), including rolling out new servers and network hardware to support existing and future needs. Gained valuable experience in web design, including extensive use of Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Contribute, also setting up a contribute editing environment for the primary schools
