Perform regular maintenance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems (RHEL). Integrate RHEL platform with existing Windows Based applications and management infrastructure. Support the development and deployment of new applications as needed in RedHat Enterprise Linux. Create and maintain Kickstart configurations for large scale server deployments. Install new or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project or operational requirements. Setup or implement monitoring processes and report on server and application performance using Zabbix and WhatsUp. Manage the deployment of Operating System patches, drivers and firmware.
Install and maintain Dell PowerEdge, HP Proliant, and VMWare virtual servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SCO OpenServer for approximately 85 production sites across the US, Mexico, Puerto Rico and China. Provide assistance to the UNIX team providing support for HP-UX environments. Manage HP Data Protector cell manager environments on HP-UX and Windows servers. Deploy and manage EMC Clariion CX4 and VNX SANs as well as Fibre Channel fabric management using QLogic switches. Deploy and manage site to site storage replication using EMC RecoverPoint appliances. Install and manage Optifacts installations within production and QA environments. Designed and implemented disaster recovery procedures for Linux/VMWare environments. Provide third level support in coordination with Operations teams. Provided performance statistics to Architect and Project Management teams to assist with hardware and software recommendations. Provide management with performance and measuring statistics.
Senior member of Automation support group, using Perl, PL/SQL, ksh, and HTML to provide Enterprise Operations with batch performance data as well as tools based on the data gathered. Defined policies for Automation group, including project proposal, implementation, and documentation procedures. Implemented source code repository using CVS, including documentation and training of staff. Provided first line problem determinations, recovery, and correction of production interruptions on AIX, HPUX, and Microsoft Windows servers as well as interruptions with LAN and WAN circuits. Maintained SLA goals and provided service delivery, and process improvement in accordance with department standards.
Maintained the Oracle 8i database systems. Documented the UNIX system backup and disaster recovery plan. Maintained OS patching for the IBM/AIX environment. Worked in a team to configure the IBM ESS Shark disk array for use with multiple platforms. Maintained interfaces between UNIX environments and other data center environments.
