About

My entire life I have been a problem solver. Professional training and experience has honed that skill with a critical dose of pragmatism. My journey into the automation and data science space has been driven by my belief in both working hard and working smart. The mix of both science and engineering education has also taught me the importance of recognizing practical constraints. This means I'm always evaluating solutions on a "fit for purpose" basis rather than wasting resources seeking ultimate perfection. I'd rather not get paid than take someone's money and deliver something that isn't worth more than it cost. I can crunch, slice, blend and apply other culinary analogies to data to achieve any practical or esoteric outcome desired. I am a firm believer in the power of Open Source software, particularly in the value these tools can bring to commercial organizations.

Experience

  • Senior Solutions Architect at LogicalTech Pty Ltd | Microsoft Office 365 | Managed Service Provider
    Feb 2026 - Present · 6 mos

  • Chief Science Officer at tapestry ai
    Oct 2019 - Present · 6 yrs 10 mos

  • Director & Head Solution Architect at Spatial Partners Pty Ltd
    Aug 2014 - Feb 2026 · 11 yrs 7 mos

As a member of the Spatial Partners team, I am yet another swiss army knife for data driven digital problems. I originally joined Spatial Partners to augment the teams technical capacity in delivering solutions for NBN partners. Over time my role has evolved to include direct engagement with clients, project management and business development. My role currently encompases first engagement with customers to begin discussing current pain points, gathering requirements, mapping business needs to achievable and tangible outcomes, managing lightweight agile teams, augmenting technical capacity and managing the testing and deployment of a final solution. As a result of my activities Spatial Partners has extended our capacity to encompas graph theory driven solutions to networking problems, adapted data science theory to an engineering context and adapted our solutions to cross industries. We have significant expertise in complex data problems, involving highly interconnected data. I have developed a keen sense for data "reverse engineering" to solve challenges where SME knowledge has been lost or was never written down. Spatial Partners has a broad skill base in the digital solution space, covering geospatial systems, web technologies, database management, data conversion and automation.

  • Scientific Adviser at Electrospinz Ltd
    Aug 2008 - Jan 2026 · 17 yrs 6 mos

Since 2008 I have worked with Electrospinz Ltd in developing and refining their product range. This involved being part of a scientific advisory team that was regularly consulted on design choices and to understand the new directions electrospinning technology must take to advance the industry. In practical terms this means I have been involved in helping to set up new commercial facilities for customers of Electrospinz as well as solving technical problems by undertaking research such as looking at charge loss on the fibre to improve deposition rates.
