About

In retirement I worked initially one afternoon a week as an Official Prison Visitor, which I have found very interesting and fulfilling. In September 2025 I changed to being a volunteer chaplain (Free Church) at the prison, one day a week. Before retirement I brought over 40+ years work experience including 3 years current building contracting and 9 years HSE training/ consultancy experience in Oman, 3 years programme management experience at London 2012 (I wrote and then managed the design safety process for the Delivery Partner CLM for this $9bn programme) 15 years in the UK and 9 years in Pakistan delivering design, or design and build, or build. Design risk management is making things safe to build and easy use, before we start. Construction management is getting it done well, within budget and on time. Compliance monitoring - proving we did what we said we would do. Programme management – combining projects to gain efficiencies. Professional qualifications - MICE (retired 2023, left 2025), MIStructE (retired 2023, left 2025), CEng (retired 2023, left 2025), CMIOSH (retired 2026 now on no CPD basis), RFAPS (retired 2023, left 2025). Specialties: Joining and advising a lay client organisation whilst they define their project brief, commission the design and right through their construction programme. I add value through breadth of expertise.
