As an engineer for Nucor, I've been able to design, implement and install electrical/automation projects to improve the processes in both the Rolling Mill, and Heat Treat lines. Served 5 years in the United States Marine Corps as an Air Traffic Control Communications Technician with billets ranging from HAZMAT to quality assurance. During that time I received a journeyman's license through the Department of Labor as a Radio Repairman.
Completed and assisted in automation projects pertaining to the special bar quality roll mill.
• Conduct site survey on rugged terrain prior to installation by selecting locations close to runways, away from foliage, on level yet elevated ground, and with the best possible ground conductivity. •Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on more than $13M worth of systems, such as, radios, couplers, antennas, recorders, telephone systems, communications systems, and power supplies by measuring specific tolerances on specialized calibrated equipment which ensured rapid, effective movement and operation on a moment's notice. •Use a logical process to isolate and diagnose faults in 4 main electrical systems with more than 25 different subsystems by using test equipment, such as, oscilloscopes, communication test sets, watt meters, and multi-meters. •Repair or replace inoperable components by using delicate cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering techniques in strenuous, and timely circumstances. •Provide instantaneous technical assistance during flight operations through precise communication, isolation, and response. •Train the appropriate personnel to be qualified in performing the necessary technical processes, tasks, and responsibilities to properly and accurately ensure the consistent operation of various air traffic control systems. •Complete quality assurance inspections on all procedures, maintenance items, and technical directives accomplished by all personnel in the communications section.
