Current Senior Engineer at Total Escalators. Skilled in all Repair and Major Refurnishment works across all types and makes of escalators/walkways NVQ 4 certified.
A job role became available and i decided to return to the company that would enable me to continue growing and improving my skills. On returning to Kone i passed my NVQ 4 qualification in testing which has allowed me to improve and also aid the development of other engineers which i feel is important when working in a team. Since becoming qualified i have progressed from an advanced engineer to a senior engineer, the highest grade achieveable. I have overseen some major projects in repair, refurbishment and modernisation including many sites such as CITI bank, JCB ahead Office, Chelsea Football Club and The Shard. Working to regulations and deadlines is one of my strong points.
I continued my career working for a sub contractor of Kone who mainly specialise in build up and comission of new Escalators. I have built up and commissioned new machines from Kone, Otis and Stannah. Working to drawings and building Regualtions and Industry Standards. Existing knowledge of escalator regulations and skills has proved useful. I have also spent time Servicing Escalators around London and in Scotland. Using my understanding and experience to identify any potential problems which may arise. I also met with consultants and surveyors to carry out insurance inspections.
I started working on Escalator repairs as a Repair improver learning my trade whilst completing my NVQ level 3 in service & repair. Upon completing this I have been made an Escalator repair engineer. I have covered minor & major refurb work aswell as doing some service work. Such repairs as rechains to drive and motor/gearbox removals. As a repair engineer I have gained knowledge on the likely areas of an escalator, which are prone to wear & tear. All escalator makes were worked on in my time including Otis, Schindler, Stannah and Thyssen.
Starting as a Commercial Lending advisor I worked in an admin team processing commercial lending applications and answering the phones to the customers. This job enhanced my already capeable IT skills. I was further promoted to Consultant, having say in whether applications were accepted or not. I left my role having been promoted to supervisor feeling a change of job was required.
